I often think about how fortunate I was to be able to come to the United States after finishing dental school in Taiwan where I grew up. Encountering a totally different culture and language, certainly shaped me as a person and helped grow an appreciation for my own culture and customs as well as the ones I was newly immersed in. Reflecting on my Taiwanese upbringing, I’m grateful for the strong work ethic and tenacious self-discipline that were instilled in me. I cherish the freedom and opportunities that I have been given here in the U.S. and try to never take them for granted. The time I have spent here has impressed upon me that there are so many colors in life, in the forms of experiences, people, and cultures. Having the chance to meet so many diverse people throughout my life has been such an impactful experience. I make it a point to ensure all my patients from different walks of life feel warmly welcomed in our offices.
A little further background about my life and education; I had finished dental school in Taiwan in 1988 and spent the next two years fulfilling my obligation to Taiwan’s military. I then moved to the U.S. and enrolled at Boston University for Prosthodontic (Dental Crown and Dental Bridge) specialty training. After graduation from B.U. I was privileged to become a full time faculty member at Tufts University and was nominated as Head of Fixed Prosthodontics in the Predoctoral program. After 6 years of teaching, I felt an eagerness to further advance my knowledge in pediatric dentistry, and decided to go into the Orthodontic specialty training at Tufts University. Soon after completing training, I was fortunate enough to open up my own orthodontic office and have been so lucky to watch the practice grow and expand to our Las Vegas, Nevada location. Being an orthodontist has been rewarding on so many levels. I absolutely love creating beautiful and healthy smiles for my patients.
